The Blinds

From your cubicle, you stare out the window barely taking in the drab landscape. It evokes no real emotion from you, perhaps except for that of despair. What was once comforting in its familiarity has now become stifling in its unchanging nature.

You flip the blinds closed, wanting to blot out the sight of yet another grey day. You can’t take the monotony of looking at the same old terrain anymore.

Your breath catches. There’s a message written on the back of the blinds:

I’M WAITING FOR YOU

Your heart jumps. You peek back through the blinds wondering if someone is watching you, but no one is about. You have to admit, it feels good to have some energy pulsing through your being, even if it is for reasons a bit unsettling.

Who’s waiting for me? Why? And where?

The mystery of it sparks your curiosity. The corners of your mouth turn upward for the first time in a long while.

It crosses your mind that there is a place called Curiosity Point. You’ve never been before, but perhaps whoever is waiting for you is there.

Do I dare go?

After thinking about it, you decide to:

Duck out of work early and head to the point
Put your head down and get back to work
