Five unshakable beliefs about inspired work
Each of us sees the world through our own unique perspective, which has been shaped by who we are and what we’ve lived. Not only is it not possible for everyone to have the same views, it is also not desirable. It is the diversity of our individuality that seeds each flower in the bountiful garden of humanity that constitutes our planet.
As we move through life, from the wide array of thought available, we choose our beliefs – sometimes consciously, sometimes not. What this means is that each of us has the agency to alter our beliefs resulting either from critical thinking or exposure to new thought, or both. So, when I use the phrase “unshakable beliefs”, while the following are the bedrock of ideas upon which I have built my work, I’m not naive enough to believe that my foundation cannot be shaken given new information that may come to light.
To state my case, my view of work used to be myopic. For decades, I sacrificed my life for big corporate companies working as an underpaid “keyboard monkey” who believed that work was just something I had to do to make money. Really, I don’t even know if I can credit myself with giving the whole idea of work even that much considered thought. It goes to show how dramatically our lens on something can change.
So, to make a long story short, what I am trying to say here is this is how I see work, and you may or may not see it this way, too:
1. You were born with everything you need to do your work
Contrary to what society would have you believe, you were not born into this world lacking and in need of education or training to make yourself “employable”. You came into this lifetime already imbued with the inherent strengths, gifts, and talents you need to offer something of extraordinary value to the world.
2. You are a creator
You, along with each and every person, have the ability to receive brilliant ideas from the source of infinite potentials and through your actions, turn those thoughts into physical, real-world manifested reality. Whether you are creating a guided meditation, a community gathering, or the next big paradigm-shifting conscious business, you are a creator who is capable of creating your own work.
3. Work is to support your evolutionary growth
From our earliest entry into school, we have been taught to think of work as a set of predetermined boxes and the role of education is to attempt to figure out which one we fit into. But this is a limiting view of work and of ourselves. Instead of contorting yourself into a position that binds you with constraints, consider your work to be a platform upon which you stand that rises with you as you grow and evolve into who you really are.
4. Your work matters because you matter
One of the biggest tragedies of the human condition is that by such a tender young age in our lives, we have already been convinced of our unworthiness. We then proceed to spend our adult lives seeking work that justifies our existence. But there is nothing to prove. You are worthy because you exist and your work is simply meant to be an expression of that truth.
5. The universe expands through you and your work
We live in an expanding universe and the energy that creates new realities wants to move through you. By receiving that which is being inspired to you, and allowing creative life-force energy to flow through the form of your work means that the universe has expanded all because of you.
...
I share these beliefs with you full-well knowing they are not the way everyone views the concept of work. However, I am not here to serve everyone. I am here to serve those who feel an alignment with what I believe (and the same goes for your work, too).
